Monthly thoughts on society, politics, culture and art. Hong Kong was the only Chinese metropolis to commemorate the dead of the Tiananmen Square massacre. On 4 June 1989, demonstrating students were brutally crushed by tanks of the communist regime. While in mainland China the numbers 4,6 and 1989 are already banned as treason by the state internet firewall, hundreds of thousands marched through Hong Kong’s streets.
